How to make a QR code that scans

What to put in a QR code, how error correction changes capacity, and how to export it.

A QR code stores text. For a link, paste the full address, including https://, so a phone opens it directly. The code is drawn in your browser from that text. RS Labs does not store the value or turn it into a tracking link.

Error correction

L recovers about 7% of a damaged code and fits the most text.
M is a sound default for a URL on a poster.
Q and H survive more damage and logos placed over the middle, and they fit less text.

Export

PNG is the right file for a screen or a document at a known size. SVG stays sharp at any print size. Keep a quiet margin around the code, and keep the dark modules darker than the background. Pale colours and a busy photograph underneath are the usual reasons a code will not scan.
